AI Disclosure

This page explains how the Curious Pundits Podcast (“Curious Pundits”, “we”), jointly owned and operated by Kevin Carney and Emanuel Petrescu, uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

The short version: our conversations are real and unscripted. We use AI tools to help with the written material, research, and production work around those conversations, and a person reviews everything before it is published.

Episodes and audio

Every episode is a real conversation between real people. We do not use AI to create guests, invent conversations, or script what anyone says.

When we edit episodes, we occasionally use an AI voice tool to repair a garbled word or correct a brief misstatement. So far we have only done this for the hosts’ own voices. If we ever do it for a guest, it will be limited to the same kind of small repair, and the guest will hear it before the episode is public: every guest gets to review their episode on an unlisted YouTube link before it is published. We never use AI voice tools to add opinions or statements a speaker did not make.

Written content

  • Transcripts are produced with AI speech-to-text and then reviewed.
  • Show notes, episode descriptions, timestamps, and the lists of people, places, and organizations mentioned are drafted with AI from the transcript and then edited by us.
  • Editor’s notes and episode titles start as AI suggestions that we choose from and edit.

Research

We use AI tools to help find sources and potential guests and to summarize background material. We check facts against the original sources, which we link wherever we can. Our Money Matters research pages are prepared with AI assistance for analysis and charts, and each page states its sources and assumptions.

Images and the website

  • Our episode thumbnail templates were originally designed with help from AI. Each episode’s thumbnail is made from those templates by hand.
  • We use AI tools to help prepare the descriptive information (metadata) embedded in our images.
  • This website is built and maintained with help from AI coding tools.

There is no chatbot on this site, and we do not use AI to personalize what you see.

Accountability

Kevin and Emanuel are responsible for everything we publish, whether a person or an AI tool helped produce it. AI tools can make mistakes, which is why we review their output. If you spot an error, please email [email protected].
